God bears witness to His word whenever He tells you something about yourself, someone else, an event or the future. To bear witness means to testify about or give evidence of something you have seen or know to be true.
Furthermore, when God bears witness, He confirms His message more than once through the Scriptures, dreams, or other people, and He watches over His word to perform it. For instance, to demonstrate His commitment, He swore an oath to back up His promise to Abraham. (Hebrews 6:13-20)
This post will examine how God bears witness in the Scriptures and through a dream. Topics include:
- The Four-fold witness about Jesus.
- God the Father and the Scriptures bear witness to Jesus.
- The Holy Spirit bears witness to Jesus and His body of believers.
- God bore witness to my dream, ” House Rewiring Discount.”
- Tips for finding the witness of God in your dreams.
The Four-fold Witness About Jesus
The Pharisees did not believe Jesus and falsely accused Him. And even though Jesus had the right to testify about Himself, He did not.

Instead, He said, “If I bear witness of Myself, My witness is not true. There is another who bears witness of Me, and I know that the witness which He witnesses of Me is true.”
The Bible states, “By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” Yet, Jesus exceeded this standard when He named His four-fold witness:
- JOHN THE BAPTIST – John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.” Jesus said, “You have sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. Yet I do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved. He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.”
- HIS WORKS/MIRACLES – “But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.”
- THE FATHER/HOLY SPIRIT – “And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe.”
- THE SCRIPTURES – “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.“ (John 5: 31-39; John 8:13-18; 2 Corinthians 13:1)
God Bears Witness to His Son
Over 300 Messianic prophecies testify about Jesus. Additionally, there are Scriptures showing the Father directly bearing witness to His Son.
- JESUS’ BAPTISM – “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
- MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION – “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” (Matthew 17:6)
- 1 JOHN 5 – If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. ( 9-10)
The Holy Spirit Bears Witness to Jesus and His Body
Jesus advised He sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper. Specifically, the Holy Spirit bears witness to Jesus. He reminds us of Jesus’ words and confirms our identity in Christ as children of God (John 16:5-14).
- 1 JOHN 5 – This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. (vs 6)
- 1 JOHN 4 – By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God… (vs 2)
- JOHN 15 – “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me (vs 26)
- ROMANS 8 – The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. (vs 16-17)
I saw the following dream several years ago but have recently been pondering it.
Dream: House Rewiring Discount
An electrician came by to fix something in my house for a charge of $300. Then, he gave a quote of $3000 to rewire the whole house, including the cost of the materials. I did not accept his offer. As a result, he discounted his price to 60% of $300. I wrote him a check. He had me make the check to “Sai–” (I could not recall all the letters). Then, with a twinkle in his eye, he instructed me to write “actor” after his name. I asked incredulously, “Does that mean you are an actor? Are you just playing around?” He threw back his head and laughed and laughed. (I woke up)
Dream Analysis: House Rewiring Discount
A house is where you live, so this dream is about my life. In context, electricity symbolizes spiritual power, and rewiring indicates a renewal of spiritual empowerment. Writing a check means exercising faith. Furthermore, the dream includes variations of the number 30. For example, 30 x 10 is 300. Whereas 30 x 100 is 3000.
The number 30 is a common symbol in my dreams, and it usually represents kingly (Kingdom) ministry (2 Samuel 5:4, Luke 3:23, Genesis 41:46). Correspondingly, the number three (3) means the perfect witness (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
Zeroes signify degrees of fullness or emphasis. Since I must pay a cost, ten (10) means putting things in order (Ten Commandments) or demonstrating responsibility (concerning ministry 30 x 10). On the other hand, 100 requires a more significant level of commitment and responsibility (30 x 100).
Six represents issues concerning man (created on the 6th Day). Therefore, six (6) x 10 again means I must address heart issues (choices, cares, and challenges).
God Bears Witness to My Dream
When I greeted my Mom the following day with “Good morning!” she proudly gushed, “I bought you a house for $30,000!“
Surprised, I replied, “Wow! Really? That was nice of you!” (Houses in Florida cost 10 times that amount). So, I asked, “Did you have a dream?” “Yes!” she nodded with a smile. (Remembering dreams is rare for her).
As I walked away, I knew the $30,000 was no coincidence because this was the morning after I pondered my dream and the variations of the number 30.

I offered up a silent prayer. “Thank you, Lord, for bearing witness to Your word!” I understood the dream meaning.
In heart-warming kindness, the Lord spoke through Mom to tell me, “I have fully paid the price for your life and anointed you with power for ministry!“ (Luke 10:19).
He also revealed the tithe. (A tenth of $30,000 is $3,000, and a tenth of $3,000 is $300). Granted, the tithe is not money but my willing offering of faith and obedience (see A Window to a Promise: Abram meets Melchizedek).
Similarly, I realized the 60% off $300 was not the discount I assumed. God will deal with any heart hindrances and unwillingness to fully commit (meet the $3000). To whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). Is it any wonder the electrician was laughing so hard?
Dream Interpretation: House Rewiring Discount
Here is the meaning of this dream summarized in two sentences. To minister with renewed spiritual power requires personal responsibility, but to be fully empowered requires total commitment. My level of commitment will seem “affordable” as I diligently keep myself from “the cares of this world” and exercise faith and obedience.

I suspected Jesus was the electrician, and the clue was “actor.” (Yes, there is drama/acting in the Bible; King David feigned madness and Jesus hid His identity on the Road to Emmaus).
Coincidentally, the beginning of the electrician’s name, SAI, means “Lord” in Sanskrit. (Did you know many English words are of Sanskrit origin?).
Tips for Finding the Witness of God in Your Dreams
Have you received a dream with a promise from God? He will confirm His word to you, too. Here are a few tips to help you find the witness of God:
- Always try to identify God in your spiritual dream, whether the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit. At times, all three will be present. (A dream focusing only on the dreamer’s opinion, feelings, or desires likely originates from the soul.)
- Practice finding Jesus in the Scriptures, and you will learn to recognize Him in your dreams. For example, in the account of Jacob’s Ladder, Jacob placed a stone under his head before he had that extraordinary vision. That stone was more than a pillow. It symbolized The Word (Jesus). We, too, must fall asleep with our minds on The Word.
- Do not overlook God’s witness through the Scriptures or unexpected messengers or situations. God will use who or what He pleases to confirm His Word, even a movie!
In conclusion, when God bears witness to His word, be assured He will also fulfill it. He places His Word even above His Name (Psalm 138:2). Amen!

Hi Jacquie, I’ve just re-read your post here and you’re correct that God speaks to us in many ways, but especially in Scripture, his word. Your Mom’s dream helped to understand your own dream, so I guess God was speaking to both of you. God’s words are never empty or untrustworthy. Our own limited understanding is also in play. I hope for both of us that we’ll always (or most of the time) be in harmony with God.
Amen! I agree with you. God can say one thing to one person and speak to someone else through the same word.
Thank you for sharing.
